The Community Development and Integration Services Division facilities CCIS involvement with the community through voluntarism and community outreach in the areas of multicultural education, sponsorship and family reunification, health, integration services and adult education for families and seniors.

Women are trained on the concept of volunteerism; meet Canadian born, immigrant and refugee women and the community at large.  The Volunteer Cooperative is designed to increase small business opportunities for immigrant women and CIWA.  The Small Business Development offers immigrant women a link to workshops and volunteer experiences in the community to learn, develop and build small-business skills.  The Toy and Interactive Book Bag Library encourages childhood development through the provision of educational books, toys and CD-ROMS at our onsite library. The Cultural Wonders Diversity Resource Library is an information and research centre focused on promoting cultural diversity in our community.  A craft group meets weekly to make products CIWA sells.

Works with parents’ groups, community leaders and cultural liaisons to foster healthy growth of children, youth and families.  Supports ethno-cultural community groups in developing their own programs through planning, training and building partnerships with other communities.  Works with community members to increase newcomers’ access to health services.  This is done though assisting in health projects, educating mainstream communities and providing on-site psychological counselling services.  Also has a Chaplain who can assist newcomers and staff with spiritual well-being.
