The
After-school Life Skills Program is run after school in various Junior
High and Elementary Schools. This program includes exciting
recreational activities, arts & crafts, as well as fun and educational
activities designed to assist students in the integration process within
school and society. The Homework Club is where immigrant youth (Grades
1 - 12) meet at libraries after school to receive help with homework in
various school subjects from bilingual staff and volunteers. Students
also have the opportunity to interact with other students. The Family
Assistance Program allows staff members visit families for two hours per
week over a 4-week period. The program works with students to help
develop good study skills and assists parents by familiarizing them with
community services and discussing cross cultural issues that may arise.
In the Summer Literacy Program students participate in
vocabulary building, spelling tests, reading and writing lessons.

New Friends and Neighbourhood Group helps immigrant and refugee
women from diverse cultural backgrounds come together in their
neighbourhood. The Integration Program assists immigrant and refugee
women who experience family conflict or other barriers with basic
necessities such as: housing, social services, food, legal assistance,
etc. In-Home Support provides direct in-home preventative services and
crisis response support to high need ethnic groups such as Sudanese and
Somalis. A weekly legal clinic is offered through a partnership with
Calgary Legal Guidance. The Family Conflict Program assists immigrant
and refugee women with free cross-cultural counselling. The Parent
Education Program and the Home Visitation program provide family
support. The Four Strong Winds program prepares pre-school aged
children for school by enhancing their English language, social
development and skills necessary for entering school. Provides
information and support to the mothers about the Calgary school system
and the roles of families in public education. The Youth Program
supports girls ages 12-19 to increase awareness of community resources
and provide leadership training

Provides a
variety of counselling services, ranging from individual and couples
therapy to family and group work. Also host a variety of
psycho-educational groups, workshops, and programs offered to inform,
support, teach skills and assist those in managing all aspects of family
life related to the life cycle. The Family Loan Program provides an
interest free loan. This loan can be used for a variety of purposes
such as business loans, student loans, home ownership loans, immigration
sponsorship loans, debt consolidation, personal loans, emergency loans,
special medical or educational loans and life-cycle loans. The
Resettlement Program guides individuals through the maze of government
regulations, completion of forms, banking, housing, child education,
adult learning, ESL, transportation and cultural issues. Community
integration activities include holiday celebrations in the Russian
language, parenting courses and youth programs designed to strengthen
Jewish identity and communal involvement.

Offers an

transportation, healthcare, etc. Interpretation and translation
services are also offered in a variety of languages. A Newcomers Guide
is also offered in print in English and Chinese. The Newcomers' Club
offers activities of interest, such as tax clinics, flu shots, etc. to
new immigrants and it is a place to make new friends and obtain
encouragement and support. Free legal information is offered once per
month and free mental health counselling twice per month. Also
